LaVerna St. Clair Frymire

LaVerna St.Clair Frymire passed peacefully from this life on March 22nd, 2024 at Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. LaVerna was born on December 28th, 1930 to parents Normal and Nellie Chappell and lived her entire life in the Coeur d’Alene area. She was a teacher at Hayden Lake Elementary from 1967 until her retirement in 1993, and is remembered fondly by the many students that she taught in her 26 years at the school.

After she retired LaVerna poured her energy and creativity into crafting. She made many beautiful quilts for family and friends, each one unique as she never made the same pattern twice. She donated quilts over the years for charity auctions, and crocheted and donated hundreds of warm winter hats to various charities. She made her own cards, sent many and gave many away for others to send. She was a talented crafter who always had multiple projects that she was working on at any given time.

LaVerna enjoyed traveling and often went with her grandkids and great grandkids to the Oregon coast, the location of some of her favorite quilting shops. She was an avid reader, a jigsaw puzzle enthusiast, and a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to her family.

Laverna was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Abe. She is survived by her daughter Linda Checkal-Fromm, son Dave Schauer (Carla), grandchildren Katje, Kali, Angie, Hillary, Sylvia, and Colin, 14 great grandchildren, and was excited to welcome her first great great grandchild this summer.

There will be no service held but if you have fond memories of LaVerna you can share them with the family on the English Funeral Chapel website. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Schneidmiller Hospice House.
