Anthony Booy's Desjarlais Celebration of Life will occur on Saturday, January 4th, 2025, at Community Presbyterian in Post Falls, Idaho, at 11 am. (417 N William St, Post Falls, ID 83854)
Anthony "Booy" D. Desjarlais, aged 64, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Born on July 26, 1960, in Great Falls, Montana, Booy dedicated his life to his family and his career as a skilled carpenter. His craftsmanship could be admired across various landmarks in the Pacific Northwest, from the Portland Zoo to Alaska’s North Slope and the I-90 overpass in Wallace, Idaho.
Booy was deeply devoted to his family, his wife, Marilyn Desjarlais, their children—Heather VanCleave, Allyson Zuk, Jason Desjarlais, Zach Desjarlais, and Makayla Desjarlais, 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. He found great pleasure in the simple moments of life, often relishing gatherings centered around holidays, birthdays, and barbecues. Known for his big loud sense of humor, he welcomed everyone with open arms and a genuine smile. His playful personality and witty remarks earned him many friends; it seemed that everywhere he went, he knew someone, and they knew him. Through the last few years, his best friends—Rick, George, Roy, and Don—were always on his mind and adventurous personality.
Booy was not only magnetic but fully present in every moment, creating memories that will forever warm the hearts of those who knew him. He had a special way with babies and took great joy in spending time with family. His memorable quotes, "Come back when you can't stay for so long" and “Happy birthday bullshit bad word,” reflects his lighthearted spirit and love for the people around him. He was a proud enrolled member of the Chippewa-Cree Tribe of Rock Boy Montana, which further enriched his vibrant personality.
In addition to being a loving husband and father, Booy excelled in various interests. He cherished hobbies such as watching TV shows and movies, golfing, fishing, antiquing, yard-saling, and driving his tractor. His passion for adventure was evident when he drove his boat around Lake Coeur d'Alene and enjoyed gambling at the casino. Through the years, his beloved dogs—Buck, Oscar, Coco, Hazel, Bentley, and Hildey—also held a special place in his heart.
Booy is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children, Heather, Allyson, Jason, Zach, and Makayla; his grandchildren, his brothers, Buzzy and Pat Desjarlais; and his sisters, Gwen Hill, Leona Flowers, and Jessie Desjarlais. He is preceded in death by his mother, Doryce Desjarlais; his father, John Desjarlais; and his sister, DeeDee Whitt.
The legacy of Booy Desjarlais will continue to shine through the loved ones he leaves behind, and he will be remembered fondly for the joy he spread and the happiness he found in family, friendship, and the work he was so proud of.
