Barbara Lindley

Barbara Ann Lindley (80) was born July 7, 1936 passed quietly on June 30, 2017 at home. She was born in Wilmington, Delaware into a family of Polish immigrants. Her proud parents, mother Hattie (Hedwig) Smigelska and father John (Yanosh) Hirnick welcomed her into the world. Her father passed when she was only 6 months old leaving her and her young mother to live under the remarkable influence of her Polish grandmother.

Barbara met and married her lifelong love William Lindley in San Francisco, California. They were married nearly 62 years. Together they raised three daughters, built a lovely home on the Sacramento River and built and launched the “Barbara Ann” which they eventually lived aboard in the delta for 13 years. Barbara loved to share stories of the many children she worked with as an aid in Sacramento Elementary Schools. She moved with her husband to North Idaho to live out her days surrounded by family and grandchildren. Barbara took great delight in ballet, Placido Domingo, John Denver, and old movies. She remained chipper with the dawn of each new day and always found simple joys in everything around her. She will be lovingly rememberd by all of the Jones family of Stockton, California, the Higgersons of Crescent City, California, and the Coopers of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
