Barbara Sinclair

Barbara Jean Sinclair (Weed)

A long-time resident of Coeurd’Alene, Barbara passed August 30th, 2017 at the Schneidermiller Hospice House in Hayden after losing a strong hard battle with cancer.

To sum up a person’s life in a few words is impossible. Barbara was strong willed from the get go. Born December 20th, 1937 to Dorothy L. and Edgar W Weed. She was born at home in Halethorpe, Maryland and shared the same birthday as her mom! As a child, the family moved often until settling in Hawthorne, NJ. Her fondest memories were of visiting the old farm in Sussex and always yearning to stay there forever. But with her parents divorcing she would spend summers taking the train to Florida and then attending school in New Jersey. She met and dated her sweetheart in 1952, They were young and in love and married in 1954 at the Arcola Methodist Church in Paramus and later rededicating the marriage at St Luke’s Roman Catholic Church May of 1962. But the marriage ended in 63 with mom and us 4 kids heading to Florida to meet our Grandfather. Life always seemed to be an adventure, back up the east coast and then cross country to LA, North to Spokane a side trip to Alaska an on to Montana. Though there were lots of stops in between, she finally settled down in Coeur d’Alene. She worked many jobs, a jack of all trades to a degree. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved working for the US Forest Service up at the Maghee Ranger Station. The fresh air and the mountains! She had said, if only she could have by passed all the other stops along the way she would have come here first. You would always see her with her pink coffee mug and a cigarette.

Mom leaves behind 4 children, Robin Van Hoozen – CDA; Carey Spears (Ron) Sagle; Robert John Sinclair (Tracie) Rathdrum; and Dawn Sinclair- CDA, and Aunt Phyllis in Patterson, NJ.

Nine Grandchildren, 12 great –grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. A private memorial will be celebrated at a later date.
