Betty Crook
Betty Crook, a.k.a. Betty Saganski, of Post Falls, Idaho, died peacefully on March 4, 2018. Betty was born in 1940 in Minot, N.D., to Mike and Thelma Bisbee. Betty and her older sister, Beverly, grew up in North Dakota near the town of Bisbee, named for her great-grandfather, Col. Andrew Bisbee. The family moved to Southern California when she was a teenager, and she and her sister attended high school in Torrance and Corona. She entered the Air Force after high school and met her first husband, Carl Saganski, while stationed at Hamilton AFB. They had three children, Kimberly, Christian and Michael.
The family moved to Wisconsin, where they enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and archery. Betty became a national champion in field archery.
Betty and the kids moved back to California in the 1970s and she became a hairdresser. The family moved to Idaho in the 1980s. She married Wayne Crook in 2005 and retired from a long career as a hairdresser about 15 years ago. She loved her customers and coworkers and developed lasting friendships with many of them.
In retirement, Betty enjoyed camping and watching basketball with her husband, Wayne, playing bunco with friends, reading, shopping with her sister, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an admired artist, a loving mother, was well loved, and is greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
