Catherine M. Schauer, of Post Falls, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island, July 19, 1938, the only child of the late James and Lillian (Ryan) Magee.
Catherine married Norman Schauer on March 3, 1957. During her life she traveled extensively with her husband who was serving in the United States Navy. As a military spouse, she made her home in Rhode Island, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Spain, Hawaii, and Illinois before relocating to Post Falls, Idaho, in 1976. She was a member of the Mountain View Bible Church, Post Falls.
Catherine enjoyed playing bingo, embroidery, and reading. She looked forward to her coffee klatsch with close friends and sharing her extensive garden harvest with friends and neighbors. She enjoyed socializing and was always making new friends wherever she went. A skillful storyteller with a keen sense of humor, she often recounted past adventures and shared her favorite recipe for game birds.
Her greatest joys were raising her sons and spending time with her grandchildren whom she loved “to the moon and back” and “bigger than a whale.” She promised her family she would love them forever and when Catherine said “I promise,” she meant it.
In addition to her husband, Norman, she is survived by four sons, Kevin and his wife, Kathryn, Mount Carmel; Eric, Everett; Kurt, Airway Heights, and David, Marysville; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn McAndrew and husband Eric, of Coal Township; Kyle, and his wife Amy, Kulpmont; and one great-grandchild, Penelope McAndrew.
