Charles “Bill” Durr, 90, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away June 4, 2016, at Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene. He was born June 26, 1925, in Coeur d’Alene to Mildred and Charles Durr.
Bill served in the U.S. Navy on board the USS Cabot from 1943 to the end of World War II in 1945. He met and married Peggy Lee Nelson on March 8, 1947, in Coeur d’Alene and they had three sons, Mike, Dave and Dan. Bill worked at the Coeur d’Alene Creamery for more than 30 years. He also retired from the Coeur d’Alene School District in 1989.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ken, Grant and Floyd Cameron; and a grandson, Josh Durr. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Peggy, and their three sons, Michael of Worley, Idaho, David and Alice of Post Falls, and Daniel of Worley; grandchildren Sarah (Eric) MacKay, Maggie (Mike) Grover, Will Durr, Seth Durr and Thad Durr; great-grandchildren Brennan Tibbitts, Dawson MacKay, Andrea Durr, and Laura and Marshal Grover.
Bill’s family would like to extend a special thanks to nephews Ken (Donna) Brandvold of Sioux City, Iowa, and Fred (Peggy) White of Coeur d’Alene. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials be sent to Kootenai Humane Society, P.O. Box 1005, Hayden, ID 83835.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
