Dane Janssen passed away on July 2nd 2017 after an extended illness. Dane was born on March 8th 1948 in St. Maries Idaho to Harvey and Beverly (Moore) Janssen. He was raised in St. Maries by his Uncle Milton and Beverly Moore.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years Melea, 5 children Robert (Aimee) Janssen and family, Anthony (Jody) Janssen and family, Jodi Janssen, Mary (Josh) Kellberg and their children Nichole, Elijah, and Isaac. Angela (Mathew) Barnett and their children Joshiah, Samuel, and Rebekah. 10 siblings Harold (Marge) Sungren, Terry (Claudia) Janssen, Willie (Rita) Janssen, Donna Janssen, Diane Lucas, Debbie Janssen, Denise (Jerry) Schultz, Jay (Lucia) Janssen, Malina (Ron) Hrycenko, and Lyle Stone. Aunt Dorothy Blankenship and Aunt Lois (Bill) Caswell. 17 Nephews and 5 Nieces. Proceeded in Death by his Parents Beverly (Moore) Stone and (Stepfather) Garfield Stone and Harvey Janssen. Grandparents Lyle and Edith Moore. Uncles Jerry Moore and Henry Blankenship. Brothers Robert Janssen and Charles Janssen.
After graduating from St. Maries High School, Dane joined the U.S. Marines. During his enlistment he spent 1967-1968 in Vietnam. He returned to St. Maries and went into logging for several years working for others as well as owning his own business. He then became a long haul trucker for several years before going into the drug and alcohol rehabilitation field. He ran Port of Hope in CDA for 8 ½ years before opening his own business Maranatha Counseling in Sandpoint Idaho. During that time he also contracted with the State of Idaho Tribes Primarily the Kootenai tribe in Bonners ferry Idaho. He retired in 2004 due to a severe back injury.
His memorial is being held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at The Altar Church 901 E Best Ave CDA, ID 83814. Reception to follow.
