Dan (Danny) E Varner passed away peacefully in Spokane Valley Washington on February 20, 2025 at the age of 67 after a short battle with an aggressive form of cancer. He resided in Spokane Washington for the majority of his life working for the Spokane Club as a pantry chef and dishwasher for over 25 years. Prior to that Dan worked at resorts in The Great Tetons and in Scottsdale Arizona doing similar work. Dan had a strong work ethic and despite having fragile health for the majority of his lifetime, he was a hard worker and reliable employee. He graduated high school from Aberdeen (S.D.) High School in 1976 and stayed in touch with many of his friends throughout the years. Dan loved people and his lasting friendships and family brought him the greatest joy. Dan’s family knew they were always being looked after as Dan stayed in regular contact often calling family members every day just to say hello to check and make sure everyone was ok. Born in Fort Hall ID, Dan was a member of the Shoshone Bannock Tribe. He loved his Native heritage and was known to attend Native functions (pow-wows) and visit Native Restaurants. He particularly loved Indian fry bread. In his spare time, Dan enjoyed going to the movies and listening to music. He had a very large collection of music from the 70’s and 80’s. His favorite local band was Royal Bliss a group he watched perform many times.
Dan is survived by his mother, Louise Varner, brother Roddy Varner, brother Lee Varner and sister Sarah Burton. Services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls Idaho on Tuesday February 25th 2025 at 1 p.m. with a graveside service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to your local Hospice Organization should you wish to send your support.
