David Gerard McKenzie 52, passed away with family at his side on June 21, 2017. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota on December 8, 1964 to Dennis and Zoell McKenzie, the second of identical twins. Dave and Dan were best friends. He was a father, son, brother, and friend. He had a great sense of humor. Dave made it his mission and challenge to make whoever he may have met or talked to that day, laugh. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was in a close to fatal crash that left him disabled. He tried to warn others by giving speeches about the dangers of drinking and driving at the Idaho State Patrol Victim Panel meetings. He never forgave himself for breaking his promise, to his son Anthony, to never drink and drive. Dave touched the lives of all those he knew and many lives of those he didn’t know.
He was preceded in death by his father Dennis, and older brother Ron.
He is survived by his son Anthony, his mother Zoell, brothers and sisters Greg, Sharon, Dan (Taxmandan), Steve (Kari), Julie, and Keith, Nephews Marcus and Joshua and niece Kristi Kay. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that are considered family.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. George Catholic Church in Post Falls, Idaho. An inurnment will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
