David Munter

David Frank Munter, formerly of Grand Coulee, WA passed away unexpectedly in Coeur d’ Alene, ID on July 29th, 2017. Dave was born on August 31, 1943 in Seattle, WA to Elsie & Lester Munter, and the oldest of 6 children. Upon graduating from Moses Lake High School in 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine’s, where he served his country for the next 4 1/2 years. His final duty station was in Barstow, CA. where he earned his AA from Barstow Community College and his BA from California State University in Business Administration. He also completed an Electrical Apprenticeship becoming a Journeyman Electrician, while working for Santa Fe Railroad. While in California he met Delia “Dee”, they married in 1966 and built a life together, raising their two children.

In 1976 Dave moved his family to Grand Coulee, where he began a career as a Power Systems Electrical Foreman at the Bureau of Reclamation. In 1999 he retired and moved to Spokane, where he continued to work many more years for Avista and various other contractors. He then lived in Moses Lake, Seattle, and recently had moved to Coeur d’ Alene.

Dave was an active member in his church communities and had a very strong faith in God. What he loved most was spending time with family and friends, fishing, riding his motorcycle, hunting, camping and playing pinnacle with his family. Dave was a brother, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and to many a friend that you could always count on. He had a passion for helping people, and enjoyed volunteering in the communities he lived in as a volunteer fireman, at the food bank, as an active member of the VFW, and various other groups. He will be missed by many.

Dave was preceded in death by both of his parents, and his brother Dan (Celia). He is survived by his Son Donald Munter, Daughter Debbie Van Geystel- Grandchildren Josh Munter, Aly Van Geystel, Amanda (Josh) Jorgenson, and James (Megan) Van Geystel, his Great Granddaughter Eleanor Jorgenson, Brothers-Phil (Jeanette), Greg (Terry), Sisters- Loretta (Donnie) & Barbara, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 11, at Washington State Veterans Cemetery, in Medical Lake, Washington.
