Donald Hailey will be remembered by all those he loved and those who loved him.
Don was born in Kansas City Missouri to Bill Hailey and Frances Ebert. He had a twin brother, two older sisters and a younger sister. The family moved to southern California while the children were young and they were all raised and educated in Westminster, California. Don graduated from Westminster High School in 1966 and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1967. Don served a two-year enlistment including one year in Vietnam with the 18th MP Brigade patrolling the rivers on small River Patrol Boats.
After his service overseas, Don went on to become a welder in the Pipe Fitter’s Union in Orange County, CA and lived in Midway City where he met Betty Adams and eventually married on November 7th 1981. They spent the next 42 plus years making a life together, raising Betty’s two children Jim and Kim, and then being grandparent to nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. They lived together in Westminster, Atascadero, and Oakdale, California before making their way to Post Falls, Idaho where they have lived for the last 17 years.
After being a pipe fitter and full-time California National Guard mechanic for more than twenty years, Don changed careers in Post Falls and became a truck driver for several companies for both short-haul and long-haul trips.
If you know Don, you know he was a Kansas City Chiefs Fan, a big Kansas City Chiefs Fan. For more than 50 years, Don has been a loyal fan rooting for Kansas City every year since he saw them lose to the Green Bay Packers in 1967 during Super Bowl I. The last four years really gave Don and those who surrounded him during football season something to look forward to during each Super Bowl Season.
Don is survived by his wife Betty Hailey, his twin brother Ronald, sister Pam, and his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
