Donna Peterson, 83 born in Decatur, IL on October 4, 1933 passed away February 16, 2017.

Donna grew up in Hartford, IL where she graduated from East Alton - Wood River High School. Donna and Rollin were only friends until she threw a welcome home party for Rollin and his friend when they returned home from boot camp. That night they went to Bendal, IL to a dance hall where Rollin first asked Donna out. When Rollin left for the Navy, Donna wrote him everyday even if it was one sentence. They married on June 26th, 1954. Donna and Rollin moved to Spokane, WA in 1955 when Rollin got out of the Navy. In 1961 they moved to Medical Lake, WA where they raised their family. December 2000 they moved to Rathdrum, ID where they spent the last 16 years enjoying their retirement and each other’s company. They were blessed to spend 62 years together.

Donna retired from Global Credit Union after 30+ years. She loved reading a good book, going to the movies and spending time with the love of her life and best friend Rollin. She was a loving wife, an amazing and caring mother and grand-mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Ruth Backensto, her son Randal Peterson, two brothers Joe Backensto and Miles Backensto.

Donna is survived by her husband Rollin Peterson, son Bruce Peterson, daughter Jodie Peterson, sister Shirley Backensto, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be held at Real Life Ministries – RLM 1 Bldg - Upper Floor, 1866 N Cecil Road, Post Falls, ID on Wednesday, February 22 at 11:00 AM, reception to follow.
