Dorothy Baird

Dorothy Baird, 89, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 27, 2018, in Post Falls, Idaho. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 3, at English Funeral Chapel 1133 North Fourth Street, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Dorothy was born August 8, 1928, in Aberdeen, WA. Dorothy spent much of her youth in Fairbanks, AK, living with her brother, sister, mother and step-father in a log cabin. During the war years, she and her siblings were evacuated out of the state to family in Pea Ridge, AK. After many weeks of travel in which the family had no idea where the children were, all arrived to a hero’s reception in which Dorothy’s 3-year old sister was called “Sourdough.” On her 80th birthday, Chet and Dorothy Baird and family members visited the town of Juneau to revisit the hotel the kids stayed in for weeks during bad weather waiting to get to Seattle and on to Arkansas.

Dorothy and her husband, Chester Baird, travelled the world. Many happy days were spent kissing the Blarney Stone, going to every Irish town from songs of her youth, and spending countless evenings with friends enjoying the sites throughout Europe.

Dorothy was an artist who loved to create paintings of her family and nature. She loved to collect antiques and special treasures she found on her travels. She loved to entertain her friends and family and always made her home a welcoming place to visit. She listened to all our stories and loved to play a good game with friends and family.

Although we are saddened to lose our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, we are given solace in knowing that she is with her beloved husband Chet and daughter Susan, with our Lord.

Dorothy is survived by her sons Clark Pierce and Robert Piece; her loving grandchildren Sarah Mirando, Levi Pierce, Jonathan Pierce, and Colten Tate, and great grandson Jaxen Mirando.

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23:6
