Elizabeth “Betty” Alberta Imhoff passed away on July 12, 2016, at her home in Post Falls, Idaho, at the age of 102, surrounded by family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Murray and daughter Judy. She is survived by her daughters, Ann and Mary Jo; 11 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was born on Jan. 11, 1914, in Rossvile, Kan., reared in Albuquerque, N.M., and lived most of her life in Fresno, Calif., where she spent many decades rearing her family. She opened Imhoff’s Yardstick (her own chain of fabric stores), was a committed member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church, the California Federation of Republican Women and various other organizations dedicated to community service and the arts.
Shortly before her 90th birthday, Betty moved to Post Falls to be closer to family, where she converted to the Catholic Church and became a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church. She remained active in her favorite pastimes which included knitting, reading (even aloud), playing bridge and solving crossword puzzles, right until her final weeks.
Betty (or “Nana,” as she was known to her family) was widely beloved for her sharp wit, warm heart and inquisitive mind. She had a long, wonderful life and will be very missed by all whose lives she touched.
Rosary will be at 5:30 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Church in Post Falls. Funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016, also at Immaculate Conception Church.
