Frank Gold, age 95, died peacefully with his wife at his side at Kootenai Health on Thursday, January 5, 2017. He was born in St. Louis, MO, on April 1, 1921 to Frank and Bertha (Boesch) Gold. He was raised in St. Louis along with his brothers, Edward and Glenn and his sister Adeline.
He worked at odd jobs to pay for his tuition at St John's Catholic School in St. Louis. Shortly after graduation, he joined the US Marines during WW ll and was stationed in the Pacific Theater. He greatly enjoyed flying Corsair Planes off aircraft carriers.
After his service in WWII, he married Blanche Madrid and they had two children, Frankie (Paco) and Michele. He spent 35 years as manager of Bank of America in Los Angeles.
After his retirement from banking, he moved to Coeur d'Alene, ID and married Therese Schmitz. They enjoyed the¡r retirement years by golfing, fishing, skiing and traveling. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Thomas Catholic Church. He willingly volunteered at St. Thomas' soup kitchen and meals on wheels. Everyone loved Frank. His lively spirit and his warm smile brought joy to everyone he met.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Blanche, his son, Frankie (Paco), and by his siblings.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Therese, his daughter, Michele Marr (Jim), his granddaughter, Chandra, and his grandson, Carl Suggs plus numerous nieces and nephews.
The Rosary will be at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. 4th St., Coeur d'Alene, ID on Wednesday, January 11 at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 919 E. Indiana Ave., Coeur d'Alene, ID. Interment immediately following at St. Thomas Cemetery. Luncheon is to follow at St. Thomas Center.
