Gabriel Carruth

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden, unexpected death of Gabriel Barton Carruth of Hayden Lake, ID and Rancho Mirage, CA.

Born in Louisville, KY on July 3rd, 1958 Bart was the second of 3 children born to Farrah Edgar Carruth and Jean Allen Taylor Carruth. Bart grew up in Kentucky, Ohio, and Fredonia, NY, southwest of Buffalo, where he attended Fredonia High School. After high school, Bart enrolled at Morehead State University in Kentucky. He studied Business Administration and later graduated with a BS in Business and Marketing from the State University of New York, Fredonia. Bart played baseball throughout college and afterwards, and his love of the sport continued throughout his life.

Bart made his career in the BioTech and Pharmaceutical industry. He was a hardworking, respected and passionate advocate for breakthrough drugs and therapies to treat a variety of illnesses. It was at an industry meeting in Chicago that he met his wife Nancy Decker on her first day with the company. After dating for two years and maintaining a successful long-distance romance, they married in 2006 in Lizard Island, Australia. They made San Francisco their home until 2 years ago, when Nancy introduced Bart to Hayden Lake, where she had spent summers in high school and college. Bart loved Hayden Lake and they divided their time between the lake and Rancho Mirage, CA. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and spending time with friends around the lake.

Bart also loved music and playing his guitar. He was always a gifted athlete, and enjoyed playing baseball, golf, tennis, pickleball and bocce. He was an avid reader and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t build or repair.

Bart is survived by his beloved wife Nancy, his daughter Taylor, his son Gabe, his sister Isabelle (Brack), his brother Tony (Lindy), nieces and nephews, and close friends that he considered family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
