George E. Young of Hayden Lake, Idaho went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 31, 2023. He was the youngest son born to George and Idella Young on January 1, 1939 in Coeur d’Alene, ID. He is rejoicing in heaven with his beloved wife of 61 years, Virginia Young, who preceded him in death in December, 2021.
He is survived by his children, Louis Daly, Elizabeth Packard, Diana Heath, George F. Young (Daryl), James Young (Haley), Cheryl Chesser (Paul), Kea Young and 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
As successful proprietors of Young’s Nursery and Landscaping in Hayden Lake, George and Virginia grew the business started by his father in 1928 on Ramsey Road.
George honorably served his country in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force, being stationed in Iceland and other points throughout the United States. He graduated from MilitaryTech School in Louisiana. He earned his degree in Landscape Architecture along with a degree in accounting. Also a horticulturist, he could tell you the Latin botanical name of any tree or shrub.
Some of his many talents and interests included carpentry (building his own home and a church in Hayden), and art, painting various landscapes and scenery.
George was not the surface speaker, but the deep thinker; not the bell ringer, but the bell designer; not the class clown, but the dry wit facilitator. He was a paragon of a man of quiet strength, a Godly man who showed and taught love to his family through action. He was a smart and hard-working man throughout his life and on his last day of life on earth, he was true to form. We will see you again in heaven Dad.
George’s memorial service will be held on Sunday June 11, 2023 at The Vine Church, 9140 Reed Road, Hayden, ID, at 2:00 p.m.
