Petersen, Gerald William- Age 87

Gerald W. Petersen passed away on January 27, 2025.  He was born on February 20, 1937, to William Bernard Petersen and Rosalie Josephine (Frost) Peterson in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho

He was happy to have grown up in the Fort Grounds area in CDA. In fact, he lived most of his life in the same home on Forest Drive from 1940 to 2007.  Jerry attended Sherman Grade School, CDA Jr. High and completed Coeur d’Alene High School in 1955. HE enjoyed being part of the CHS varsity basketball team for several years. He went to North Idaho Jr. College in 1956. Jerry was in the US Army and stationed at Panama in 1960 to 1962.  Jerry worked for the US Forestry Department for 37 years in CDA, Idaho and Hebo, Oregon.

He was a lifetime member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and St. Pius Catholic Church.  Jerry enjoyed gardening, dancing, and spending time with his many friends.

He is survived by his brother, James Petersen and sister-in-law, Dianna Peterson and his girlfriend, Barbara Cooley.

The service will be a funeral mass at St. Pius Catholic Church on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11:00AM. The reception and internment will also be at St. Pius Catholic Church.
