Jackson was born on Dec. 21, 1939, to the proud parents of John M. Holmbo and Clara Holmbo. Jackson sadly passed away peacefully in his beloved hometown of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021.
He was born and raised in Coeur d’Alene where he was fortunate enough to live a wonderful life pursuing his passion for motor sports building and racing drag boats as well as drag racing cars among other things.
If there was any word that would best describe Jackson it would be determined. From a very young age he had a love or as some would say an unbridled obsession with hot rods and the sport of drag racing be it cars or boats.
It was through this passion combined with unwilled determination that he was able to successfully build a lifelong career doing what he loved in the town that he loved. Starting with racing hot rods around Coeur d’Alene as a teenager then on to building and professionally racing top fuel drag boats around the country followed by Funny cars and Altereds.
Though out the many years of doing what he loved he was awarded numerous trophies, awards, certifications and was truly regarded as a master of his craft. It’s easy to say the world has lost a vast wealth of knowledge and he will truly be missed.
Jackson is survived by his son Jason Holmbo along with numerus friends throughout the community of Coeur d’Alene and abroad.
