James Tassler

James Michael Tassler, 68, of Rathdrum, Idaho, passed away on April 19, 2024, into the loving arms of Jesus who is the Good Shepherd who never stopped pursuing him.

Jim was born on August 7, 1955, to Napolean J Tassler and Margaret A Lyons in Milbank South Dakota. Jim spent his childhood moving around the country due to his father’s military service, eventually the family settled down in Lemoore, California where Jim graduated from high school in 1974 and went on to enroll in a trade school for automobile mechanics.

Upon completion of trade school Jim had a career in the automobile repair shops for over 20 years and decided to leave the industry because in his own words, “I got tired of lying to people about their cars.” After leaving the automobile industry, Jim worked in manufacturing, which he enjoyed until he retired.

When Jim wasn’t blasting classic rock out of his garage to the ire of the neighborhood you would find him barbequing, gardening, and being the big bird in the barnyard to his plethora of chickens and ducks.

There was always a story and a joke to tell with Jim and enjoyed his role as the prevailing paparazzi at any gathering, which left us with more photos than we knew what to do with.

Jim loved his family and will be dearly missed by those who loved and knew him. Jim was predeceased in death by his wife Christina Mathews, his parents Napolean J Tassler and Margaret A Lyons, and his sister Carolyn Tassler. Jim is survived by his children Staci Hughes, Michael Tassler, Vanessa Mathews, James E Tassler, David Tassler, and Norma Mathews alongside grandchildren and extended family.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius X Church on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11 am, reception to follow.

A live stream of the memorial service will be made available on St. Pius X YouTube and Facebook socials.
