Jean LeGore

Jean LeGore, a longtime resident of Coeur d’Alene, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 25.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on June 25, 1935 to Bessie and Lloyd Thompson, she grew up with her two sisters Rowena and Dorothy. After attending school in Vancouver, B.C., she travelled extensively with her first husband and together they had three daughters.

After the conclusion of her first marriage, she moved to Coeur d’Alene with her three daughters and her sewing machine. Here she married Leigh LeGore in 1963 and along came their fourth daughter. Jean was an amazing Campfire Girl leader, Creative Healer, and assistant to Dr. Jeanne Arnold. She utilized her talents through sewing, crocheting, knitting, ceramics, and doing all special alterations for the family clothing store, Gibb’s Mercantile. Over the years she participated in numerous volunteer opportunities such as Art on the Green, Ironman, Panhandle Health, Coeur d’Alene Homes, and countless community events.

One of her primary passions was health and wellness. She was a pioneer in progressive and natural healing including essential oils and Bach Flower Remedies. She combined these with Creative Healing to help hundreds of people get relief from pain and illness over many years.

Jean stayed active and healthy throughout her life by biking, practicing tai chi, classical stretching, walking in fun runs, and being a lifetime member of Curves.

She was an extremely kind and nurturing mother with a limitless capacity for love and compassion, welcoming everyone with open arms and a fresh batch of cinnamon rolls or huckleberry scones.

Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband Leigh (Bill) LeGore, her sister Rowena and grandsons Abe Schauer and Jackson Stefanoff. Jean is survived by her four daughters, Cindee Root, Laurie Dixon (Mike), Carla Schauer (Dave) and Tara Stefanoff (Jim), and their families. She was a loving grandmother to eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; and many, many friends and relatives who loved her dearly.

A celebration of life will take place on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Lake City Community Church, 6000 N. Ramsey Rd, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, with reception to follow.
