Jo LaJoie-Torczon passed at her home in Rathdrum Idaho, on December 23, 2020, from natural causes.
Jo was born in Buffalo, New York to Lloyd and Corona (Dekehoe) Sauberan on August 28, 1942. She was the fourth of five children: Elaine Gregorie, Enid Williams, Rita Fordham and Lloyd Sauberan.
Jo married Allen LaJoie in 1959 in Tonawanda, New York. Later, they moved to Burbank, California, and then to Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho in 1972.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Allen LaJoie in 1993, her baby twins Joseph and Lloyd in 1961, and her adult sons, Brian and Mark, who died of Muscular Dystrophy in 2008.
In August of 1997, Jo married Donald Torczon of Columbus, Nebraska. The marriage to Don was very happy. She loved her Don very much as he was a special, kind man. Don passed away in May of 2011.
Jo’s surviving children: Therese LaJoie of California, Lucy Mordue, Madeleine (Ricky) Gutierrez, Joseph LaJoie of Spokane, James LaJoie (Lxchel) of Rathdrum. Her special loves were her grandchildren: Ben Mordue-Swalling, Nicholas, Kelly, Alyssa, Ava Mordue; Ricky, Francis, Victoria, Gabrielle, Dominic, Michelle, Isabell, Christine, Nita and Lilian Gutierrez, and Anthony LaJoie.
Jo was a lifelong Catholic. She was disturbed by the changes in the Catholic Church brought about by Vatican II. Joe remained with the consistent teachings of the Catholic Church and was a traditional Catholic. She was a member of Mary Immaculate Queen Church in Rathdrum, Idaho.
A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at 10 am; followed by a Funeral Mass at Mary Immaculate Queen Church, in Rathdrum, Idaho. Her burial will follow the Funeral Mass (at 12:30) at the Holy Rosary Cemetery at Mt. St. Michael’s in Spokane.
