JoAnna Churchill was born November of 1947 to Robert and Tekla Mobley in Oakland CA. JoAnna was the oldest of 7 children, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. She graduated high school in Lower Lake California where she met and married Gary Bonham and had 4 children James, Trena, Melissa and Charlene.
JoAnna relocated to Idaho in 1984 to join her sister Gladys and great Aunt and Uncle Ed & Winnie Stewart. She eventually met Samuel Churchill and married in 1991 where they made their home together. During JoAnna’s life she worked mostly in customer service starting at a Sears catalog store in California to working at the local Ed’s R&R gas station and Tri Peaks. JoAnna loved gardening, canning, camping at the coast and the St. Joe River, fishing, writing poems, crocheting and spending time with family. She loved fixing Sunday breakfast of waffles and strawberries and enjoying them with her children and grandchildren.
JoAnna was a very strong woman, friend, mother, grandmother and aunt. She was always there with advice whenever needed and loved everyone. Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister had a long fight with congestion heart failure and lost that fight January 21, 2017 at Kootenai Health in the loving arms of her husband, children, grandchildren, brother and sister and niece and nephew.
JoAnna is survived by her husband Samuel Churchill, her children James Bonham and Charlene Harwood of St. Maries Idaho, Trena Pritchett of Lakeport California and Melissa Robinson of Post Falls Idaho. Also surviving are her grandchildren Tyler and Kylie Harwood of Coeur d’Alene, Michael Bonham-Akers of Issaquah Washington, Jamie Fiora of St. Maries Idaho , Ronnie Fiora of Rathdrum Idaho, Bridget Gaytan of Clearlake California, Derek and Molly Robinson of Post Falls Idaho, 5 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Gladys Batchelder and Elaina Farnett and 2 brothers Randy and Rex Stewart. She is preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers James and Jeff Stewart. JoAnna was loved by all and will be missed greatly. In lieu of a burial JoAnna’s wishes were to have her ashes spread at her favorite fishing rock in Fort Bragg California.
