John M.D.

John T. Sullivan, M.D., 80, passed away Sept. 20, 2016, under the care of family and Hospice. He was born to Frank J. and Malena (Lena) Hall Sullivan in Butte, Mont.

John attended St. Patrick’s Grade School, Boys’ Central High School in Butte, and graduated from Carroll College in Helena, Mont., class of ’58. He received his M.D. from Creighton University where he met his first wife, Janet Mae Lippold, in Omaha, Neb.

He and Janet gave life to four wonderful children. He had his internship and residency at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Wash., then served as a Medical Officer for the USAF at Travis Air Force Base. He had a medical practice in Denver, Colo., and a pathology practice in Castro Valley, Calif. Most of his medical career he worked in Internal Medicine in Redding, Calif.

Janet died in 2003. John retired in 2006, then was reintroduced to an old high school friend, Rosemarie Olsen, at his high school reunion and they married in 2006. He then moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

John is survived by his four children: Rachel Denise Hodson of Paso Robles, Calif., Mark Thomas of Los Angeles, Calif., Neil Patrick of Redding, Calif., and Nancy Eileen; one grandchild, Scott Hodson; his sister, Marie Robel; nieces Diane Robel and Janet Robel; and nephews Greg Robel and John Robel. John was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Mae Lippold; brother-in-law Denis Robel and nephew David Robel. He is also survived by his second wife, Rosemarie Olsen and her many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at St. George’s Catholic Church in Post Falls, Idaho.

Following a service with full military funeral honors at the Northern California Veteran’s Cemetery in Igo, Calif., he will be interred next to his first wife, Janet.
