On January 25, 2023, our beloved Husband, Dad, Pop and Friend passed at age of 84. Born February 5, 1938 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to George and Esther (Streeter) Nielsen.
John married Sharon Rose Schorzman on March 17, 1960. Being St. Patrick’s Day made anniversary celebrations a special fun time. Together they had two Daughters; Kim Nielsen and Tracy (Don) Williams.
Graduating from IHM in Cd’A Idaho 1956, attending North Idaho College and continuing his education at the University of Idaho, serving his country in the Air National Guard, then started his 48 year career in the Sawmill Industry which included Ohio Match-Diamond International, Idaho Veneer and Malloy Lumber. Through this long career and a lifelong resident of Coeur d’Alene, John and Sharon created so many great friendships.
John earned his Eagle Scout Medal; he was a Board Member of Campfire Girls, Camp Neewahlu and Boy Scouts of America. Also, a Borah PTA member, Cd’A Wildlife Federation Member and Eagles Lodge member.
Fun travels included England, Canada, Mexico, many US states and most of all their great 22 years as Snowbirds in Yuma Arizona.
John is survived by his wife, Sharon; his Daughters, Kim and Tracy and Son-in-Law, Don. He is also survived by his four Grandchildren and their spouses: Jacob and Tiffani Lenz, Jamie and Seth Russler, Kristi and Gary Waltz, Cory and Lindsey Williams. He was so proud to have Great-Grandchildren, Saige Lenz, Skylar Lenz, Charlie Waltz, Jasmine Waltz, Kentucky Russler, Walker Williams and Baby Boy Williams due in February. His surviving siblings include Helen Hedberg, Richard (Janis) Nielsen, Ed Schaffner, John (Judy) Aktepy and many generations of Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He is predeceased by his Parents, George and Esther, Ivan Schorzman, Siblings: Buzz (Midge) Nielsen, Marlene (Elmer) Millheisler, Margie Schaffner, Bob Hedberg and special Uncle Bill (Ruth) Streeter.
A Celebration of a Life Well Lived for John will be at a later date.
