John A. Power Jr.

POWER, John A., Jr.

Surrounded by family, John A. Power Jr. passed away from pancreatic cancer on November  13, 2024, ending a battle he fought with courage, fortitude, and an abiding trust in God’s providential will for his life.

Born September 10, 1971, John grew up in the Spokane Valley. A graduate of Gonzaga Prep (’90) and Gonzaga University (’95), John worked in sales and marketing for national and regional companies in Washington, Oregon, and California.

He is survived by his parents, John and Patty Power; his sister, Mary Roche (Chris) and their children, Patricia, Elizabeth, Katie Emma, Rachel, Caroline, and Nate; his brother, Brian (Sarah) and their children, Lydia, Adeline, Annora, and Leona; his brother, Michael who played an indispensable role in facilitating John’s medical care and in providing invaluable emotional support in John’s final illness; his Aunt Pam Parker and Uncle Harold (“Fred”); and Yvonne Page of Mt. Vernon, WA.

John was a deep and reflective thinker on important matters but was a warm and engaging person in his social interactions. He had a great love of family and looked forward to the clan’s frequent gatherings. He took special delight in the accomplishments and antics of his nieces and nephew.

Blessed with a wonderful sense of humor, a quick observational wit, and an active intellectual curiosity, John was an entertaining and informative conversationalist who could hold forth on diverse subjects ranging from “The Simpsons” and sports to philosophy and physics.

John and Patty are indebted to Fr. Mariusz and St. Thomas Parish for their support and service to them, and to Hospice of North Idaho for their compassionate care in John’s final illness.

They also wish to express their deep gratitude to their family for their consoling presence, their generosity, and the love shown to them and to John in this most difficult time.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 3, at 1:00pm, at Thomas the Apostle Church, 919 E. Indiana, Coeur d’Alene. The Mass will be proceeded by the Rosary (12:30pm) and followed by committal and interment at St. Thomas Cemetery.
