June Ford

June Dimon Ford, 88, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away with family by her side on Sept. 11, 2016, at Creekside Inn Care Center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

June Dimon Ford was born Feb. 19, 1928, in Casper, Wyo., to George and Dorothy Voss and she attended school in Cheyenne, Wyo.

She spent most of her early life living in Cheyenne. After the death of her husband, Edsel “Herm” Dimon, June started a catering truck service to the F.E. Warren Atlas missile sites. She operated five catering trucks called the Koffee Time Gal. Her company was totally staffed and managed by women. This was an amazing accomplishment in the 1960s and received national recognition by Ford Motor Company magazine.

After the end of the missile sites contract, she went to work at the First National Bank and Cheyenne Light, Fuel & Power Company. During her career, she also established one of the first credit card systems.

June was an active and loving person that enjoyed many activities, including Queen Easter No. 12 Order of Eastern Star, Junior Achievement, and as a volunteer with the Sheriff’s department in Cheyenne. June was an avid snowmobiler, skier, an excellent trap/skeet shooter and hunter.

After her marriage in 1973 to Charles A. “Bud” Ford, she moved to Coeur d’Alene. She worked for the Coeur d’Alene Press, Idaho First National Bank which became Bank of America, and Kelly Real Estate, until she and Bud founded and managed Hayden Pines Water Company. In addition, the two of them owned and managed three mobile home parks in the area. During this era of her life, they enjoyed traveling in their RV throughout the United States. Their international travels covered four continents and endless countries. When they decided to partially retire from work, they devoted more time to traveling and started spending their winters in Arizona.

She loved sports and was an avid follower of the Wyoming Cowboys, Denver Broncos, and after marrying Bud, a University of Idaho Vandal fan. Bud and June became diehard Vandal fans, attending every basketball and football game. They were major donors to the Kibbie Dome remodel. The clubroom in the Kibbie Dome is named after Bud and June Ford in honor of their donations and dedication. She is an honorary alumnus of the University of Idaho. The Coeur d’Alene High School Viking field house is also named after her. Bud and June were major supporters of the renewal of the Coeur d’Alene Carousel. Not to forget her Cheyenne roots, they donated to Atlas Theatre to add air conditioning to their facility.

June Dimon Ford was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dorothy Voss; stepfather Dr. O’Brien; husband Edsel K. “Herm” Dimon; daughter Carol Anne Rowland; grandson Shane Rowland; and in-laws M. D. “Doc” Spellman and Josie Spellman.

She is survived by her loving husband, Charles A. “Bud” Ford of Coeur d’Alene; son Edsel (Terry) Dimon II of Cheyenne; son Charles (Ginger) K. Ford of Coeur d’Alene; daughter Karen (Bill) Hudson of Wallace; grandchildren Kathleen “Kat” Dimon of Cheyenne, Kris (Lauren) Dimon of Phoenix, Ariz., Jamie (Bryan) Saalfeld of Austin, Texas, Staci (Tom) Everson of Coeur d’Alene, Charles K. “Buddy” Ford II of Austin, Kerri Ann Rowland of Cheyenne, Dana Rowland of Stewart, Fla., Shannen Rowland and Shawn Rowland of Cheyenne.
