Katherine Hoyt, 94, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2016, in the company of her son, Brad and daughter-in-law Judie.
Katherine was one of eight children born and raised in Mahnomen, Minn. At 24, she married Delmar Hoyt and they moved to Spokane, later moving to a farm in Idaho to raise their children. After many years of hardship and her husband passing, she received the honor of Idaho Catholic Woman of the Year, moved back to Spokane and began worldwide travel. Several years after moving into her lovely home on the Hoyt Ranch, she took a bad fall and then needed assisted care.
Katherine moved into The Bridge at Garden Plaza in Post Falls. Though she missed her home and viewing the wildlife there, she enjoyed her apartment and living next to her longtime friend, Dorothy Sales.
Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar; son Grant; grandson Brett; three sisters and three brothers. Katherine is survived by her daughter, Jean; sons Dennis, Brad, Curt, Ralph, Karl, their spouses and seventh son Harold; as well as four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and brother Wilbur Bjerke of Spokane.
Memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, at Garden Plaza Court, Independent Living (Clay Larkin Room).
