Keith Patrick Hanlon, 69, passed away on January 7, 2025, in one of his favorite places on Earth, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where he built a life full of love, laughter, and community.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on April 4, 1955, Keith earned his bachelor’s degree at University of Pennsylvania Edinboro before embarking on his adventure to Arizona and finally his life in Idaho. He met Carmella in Orofino, Idaho while both worked in the local radio station. They eventually moved their lives to Sandpoint and Rathdrum. Then later moved to and married in Coeur d’Alene. They had two children together, Patrick and Daniel.
He has had a successful 35+ year career in real estate that spanned numerous firms, including Coeur d’ Alene Realty, Hope Realty, Coldwell Banker, Century 21, Keller Williams, and Northwest Realty, where he had planned to finish his professional journey. Keith was honored with a Lifetime Membership in the Association of Realtors, among many other accolades, as well as a trusted partner and mentor to countless colleagues throughout his career.
Keith’s love for his work was only rivialed by his love for family. He is survived by his sons, Patrick Michael and Daniel Keith; his domestic partner, Terri; his ex-wife, Carmella; his cousins in Pittsburgh—Terri, Lori, Valerie, Robin—and their families; and his cousin Bobby and his wife Sue in Florida. He was predeceased by his father, Charles; his mother, Isabel; and Jean Schessler, the woman who lovingly raised him as her own.
Keith was a man of adventure and passion, cherishing family trips to Fairmont Hot Springs and excursions to the Moyie River. He was an avid sports enthusiast, always following the scores no matter where life took him. His warmth, humor, and dedication left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
A celebration of Keith’s life will be held at the Hayden Eagles on Wyoming Ave on February 22nd from 11am to 4pm. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) in his honor.
Any questions can be directed to Patrick or Daniel Hanlon via social media or phone.
“A father’s love lives on forever, even in his absence, and his memory will always be cherished in our hearts.”
