Leonard Maiani
Leonard Maiani passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at his home in Athol, Idaho. Leonard was 73 years old. He was born in Sandusky, Ohio, June 12, 1943, and graduated from Shaw High School/Cleveland, Ohio, in 1961.
He joined the United States Air Force in 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1965. After military service, Leonard found his way to the fledgling HVAC related business of Testing, Adjusting and Balancing with Kahoe in Ohio, and then spent several years in that industry in Cleveland and Houston, Texas. He moved his family to North Idaho in 1979 and worked several years with T. J. Gerard & Associates. He started Maiani Construction Services in 1989 in the business of Testing, Adjusting and Balancing of HVAC and Mechanical Systems Commissioning. He successfully ran this business for 23 years, selling it in 2012. Leonard volunteered many years with the National Environmental Balancing Bureau and the Pacific Northwest Environmental Balancing Bureau. Finishing his last two years as a working man, operating remotely for NEBB as Technical Director, retiring completely in January 2016.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janice Maiani. He is survived by his brother, Domenic Maiani; his children, Domenic D. and Shannon Maiani, Anthony V. and Necia Maiani, and Ami L. and Brent Higbee; grandchildren Domenica Maiani Giao, Isaiah Higbee, Kaylie Higbee, Angela L. Maiani and Bridget Maiani; and great-grandchildren Kaden and Korbin. Preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Mia Maiani and brother David J. Maiani. He is also survived by a large extended family.
A celebration of Leonard’s beautiful life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, at the RLM2 building of Real Life Ministries campus, 1866 Cecil Road, Post Falls, Idaho.
