Le Roy Self

Le Roy Self, age 90, ended his journey on earth after a short illness and began a different journey on Feb 7, 2020, in Coeur d’Alene, ID.  Roy (Le Roy) was born in Spokane, WA on July 24, 1929, attending school in Spokane and the summers of his youth at Glengary Bay on Lake Pend Oreille.

A graduate of Rogers High School and then electronics training while in the service, he later took over the family business Le Roy Self & Co – Manufacturers of Mirrored Casting and Trolling Trout Spoons (Spokane, WA).

In 1953 while in the Sandpoint area, he met the love of his life Beverly Jean Sundgren and they were soon married. From that union came 3 sons along with a growing desire to return to the Sandpoint area. That goal was achieved in 1964 when Roy and Beverly purchased Kramer TV & Radio, later renaming and operating the business for over 30-years as “Self” Service TV, Appliance & Radio Shack (Sandpoint, ID).

Always an avid sportsman, Roy particularly loved hunting and fishing with his sons while at the same time passing on some of life’s most important lessons. Through the years, Roy and Bev enjoyed traveling, going from coast to coast as well as visiting a number of countries abroad.

Preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Le Roy Carl Self and Della (Graber) Self, and wife Beverly in 1998.  Roy later moved to Post Falls, ID in 2007 where he enjoyed his final years along with his friend and companion Marilyn Steinpreis.  He is survived by his 3 sons and family, Roy E. Self and Nancy Self (Greenacres, WA), Ronald W. Self and Lynn Self (Naples, ID) and Randy A Self and Tina (Flathead Co, MT), as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren. His memory will live on through those who knew him and loved him.

There will be a funeral service held on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020, at 10:00 am at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane Street Post Falls, Idaho with the graveside to be held at 2:00 PM at Greenwood Memorial Terrace in Spokane, WA.
