Linda Marie Sabatke (nee Smith) stepped into the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior on October 6, 2018. Linda was born in Portland, OR on January 9, 1945, the eldest daughter of Clarence and Cleo Smith. She was raised in Coon Rapids, MN and graduated from Anoka High School in 1963 and from the University of Minnesota in Elementary Education in 1967. She married Charles Arthur Sabatke on February 22, 1967 and they were the parents of Christopher Charles and Derek Stephen Sabatke.
Minnesotans at heart, the family also lived in Arlington, VA; Brisbane, Australia; Bonn, Germany; and Geneva, IL, eventually retiring to Rathdrum, ID.
Linda has always been very active in her church as a Sunday school teacher and Bible study leader. She loved gardening, researching the family's genealogy, sewing and quilting, reading and visiting with friends and family. She loved traveling and had opportunity to visit many parts of the world.
She was preceded in death by parents Clarence and Cleo Smith, grandparents Alfred and Nettie Smith and John and Carrie Arends, and sister Joanne Trenda. She is survived by her husband Chuck Sabatke; children Chris Sabatke (Jennifer) and Derek Sabatke (Meghan) grandchildren Soren, Avery, Thayer, and Charlie; sisters Beverly Payne (William) and Anita Standish (Allan) as well as a large extended family.
There will be a Memorial Service held on Friday October 12th, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Lake City Church 6000 N. Ramsey Rd. Coeur d' Alene, ID. Please send donations to Union Gospel Mission in lieu of flowers.
