The family of Loretta "Lori" Ann (née Ader) Wight of Newport, Washington is saddened to announce Lori's passing on December 18, 2024 at age 72, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Lori was born in Illinois in 1952 to Wayne Ray and Joanna Pearl (née Blackwood) Ader. Lori grew up in Spokane, Washington and attended Rogers High School where she met Dan Wight. Lori and Dan were married in 1971, and settled in Newport, Washington. Lori loved the log home she and Dan built to raise their family. 


Lori was beautiful, kind, talented and funny, a loving wife and mother to her three children. Lori loved ice skating and stories about her childhood memories of time spent at Deer Lake. Lori loved her family and friends, vacations to the ocean, animals, lilacs, working with children, and she especially loved quilting. Lori was proud to have a long career at Newport School District. She supported youth programs through 4-H, the Pend Oreille County Fair, and was a member of Calispel Grange. 

Lori was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne Ray (1902-1982) and Joanna Ader (1918-2000), brother Dennis Ader (1942-2015), and brother Paul Ader (1940-2023). Lori is survived by her husband Dan Wight, children Anna (Alan Lauhoff) Wight, Melissa (Andy) Schaal, Nathan Wight, and siblings John Ader, David Ader, Patricia Sundin, Judy (Larry) Murdza and Elizabeth Ader. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and many beloved friends. 


The family extends heartfelt gratitude to The Renaissance at Coeur d'Alene, and North Idaho Hospice. 


A private interment will be held in Macabee Cemetery in Sprague, Washington in 2025. A memorial event to be held at the Calispel Grange will be coordinated in 2025. 

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that contributions/donations be given in her name and sent to Calispel Grange #500, c/o P. Monk 390 Watertower Lane, Newport Washington 99156.
