Margaret Nielsen-Schaffner joined our Heavenly Father on July 25, 2017.
Margaret was born and raised in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on April 26, 1942 to George and Esther Nielsen. After graduating from IHM academy, she attended Saint Elizabeth nursing school where she earned her Registered Nurse license.
She married Ed Schaffner and together they adventured around the world with the military, building a family along the way. After 20 years of military service, they returned to Coeur d’Alene with their 3 children. Margaret continued working in the field she loved – nursing – for 17 years, and eventually retired from Deaconess Hospital. She then dedicated her energy to various projects at Saint Pius X Catholic Church and her favorite pastime was quilting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Esther Nielsen, sister Marlene Millheisler, and brother George Nielsen.
She is survived by her husband Ed, son Duane, daughter Jennifer (Lynne), son Mark (Monica), and granddaughter Amy Rae. Also by her sister Helenmarie Hedburg, and brothers: John (Sharon) and Dick (Janice) Nielsen and their familie.
