Marianne Means, 90 years

Marianne Schermer Means., born July 25, 1927, in Zella, Germany, passed away April 9, 2018 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Marianne began life in Zella Germany. Her and her family escaped from the Russian troops and eventually settled in Fulda Germany. Marianne lived a full life filled with many adventures. She realized a dream to live in the United States and become an American citizen. When she was 25 years old she got on an ocean liner heading to the United States by herself. Prior to going to the States she met the love of her life Cecil Means, who was stationed near her village. They became pen pals for a number of years. Marianne eventually traveled to Spokane, Washington where she was reunited with Cecil Means, who was stationed in Spokane with the United States Air Force. They married in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho January 1, 1954. Six months later they were stationed in Japan where they adopted a son, Thomas. Later on they were stationed in Ankara Turkey and adopted a daughter in Beirut Lebanon, Jacqueline . Marianne & Cecil raised their children in Spokane, Washington.

Marianne hobbies included traveling, reading and sewing.

Marianne is survived by her husband of 64 years, Cecil; His daughter, Jacqueline, his son Thomas and numerous nieces and nephews in both Germany, Ecuador, & America.

Memorial Service will be at the Bridges on the Garden Plaza Campus, Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 10:30 a.m.
