Maris Goldman

Maris Louise Laskar Goldman, cherished daughter, sister and friend, left our presence all too soon, on June 28th, 2018 at the age of 20 following a car accident. Maris was joyously welcomed into the world on March 30, 1998. Born at home in Spokane, Wa. she was the first official baby delivered by Dayspring Midwifery in Hayden, Idaho. Maris attended Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy for most of her post-elementary education and then completed high school at Kootenai Bridge Academy in Coeur d’Alene. Since January of 2017, Maris enjoyed her work as a Sales Agent with the Qualfon USA T-mobile team, and she leaves behind many cherished co-workers. Maris had been preparing to fulfill her dreams of attending cosmetology school, as she had known since she was 5 years old that doing hair was in her future. Always an expressive soul, Maris experimented over the years, on herself and willing friends and family - with every hair color imaginable. Maris lived her life in loving communion with friends and family and her cat, Purr-Purr. She wrote on her Facebook page, that “The day is silver & you are golden; but people are priceless.” That sentiment is a hallmark of how she lived her life and the value that she placed on the people that she knew. Maris was always one to say, if you need to cry, cry. Her compassionate heart towards others and her mode of acceptance and non-discrimination were a priceless gift she gave the world. Three words that most describe Maris Louise are creative, compassionate and intentional. As an elementary school student, she published an oil pastel drawing of fireworks in Focus on the Family magazine and continued over the years to hone her skills in watercolor, pen and ink, oil painting and mixed media artwork. Maris created meticulously sculpted cakes as well, and was known for presenting gifts of original artwork to her friends and family. Maris also had a wonderful sense of humor and was often out exploring the world and laughing with her beloved friends. Maris is survived by her father, David Goldman of Spokane, Washington, her mother, Elli Goldman Hilbert, of Post Falls, Idaho and her step-father James Hilbert, of Athol, Idaho whom she lovingly called “Papa.” She is also deeply missed by her elder sister, Dakota Goldman, her two younger sisters, Cecily Goldman and Harley Hilbert, all of Post Falls; her elder brother, Nick HIlbert and younger brother Hunter Hilbert, both of Athol, Idaho, and her beloved niece, Jamison Eldridge. As well as her grandparents, Jim and Anne Patterson of Coeur d’Alene and step-grandparents, Clyde and Lela Hilbert and her Aunt and Uncle, Jarrod and Kira McKee, of Athol, Idaho as well as numerous extended family members and friends. The family of Maris Goldman will be hosting a memorial celebration of her life under the shade of the pine trees, on the North Idaho College campus on Saturday July 21st, 2018, from 4-6 pm. All who knew Maris are welcome. Maris’s family will be constructing a memory book in her honor and guests are invited to bring photos or momentos they may wish to contribute. There will be an opportunity for people to share memories of Maris and write her notes of love, to be included in her memory book. Maris’s effervescent soul will always be in our hearts and her final physical resting place is at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls, Idaho.
