Mary Frances (Pat) Lorang Armstrong, a longtime Lewiston-Clarkston Valley resident, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 21, 2017, at 11:22 a.m. of natural causes surrounded by many family members. She was born July 4, 1927 In Lewiston, ID to Marguerite and Henry Lorang. The family lived on White Spring Ranch in Genesee, ID, .where she attended school, graduating from Genesee High School in 1945. She worked in Denver, CO for two years after graduation, before moving to Spokane, WA and attending Kinman Business College.
Pat married Ervin Clark Armstrong Feb. 24, 1952. She was the business manager for the Chevron stations which they owned and operated in Culdesac and Lapwai for 20 years. They raised their 7 children in Lapwai at the same house Clark was raised in many years prior. Christmases were always a fun and exciting time because she went out of her way to make it special. She worked for Lapwai School District 13 years as bookkeeper for the school lunch program, first at the elementary school, then at the high school. Pat considered herself a lifelong parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lapwai.
Pat enjoyed reading, daily walks, travelling, being with family and watching her grandchildren grow and participate in many activities. In December 2001, Clark and Pat moved to Lewiston until Clark’s passing in August 2011. She then moved to Garden Plaza Retirement Center in Post Falls, ID to be closer to family.
Pat is survived by sons, Sid (Brenda), Guy (Debbie), Mark (Jim), Kurt (Suzanne), and Max (Jacquie); daughters, Carrie Dahmen (Tim), and Clara Reisenauer (Chris); 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren (and 3 on the way!);1 great -great grandchild (and 2 on the way!) and sister, Mae Jones.
A service celebrating her life will be conducted at St George’s Catholic Church 2120 Lucas St, Post Falls, ID at 11AM on Friday, May 26th. Reception to follow at Carrie and Tim Dahmen residence 16125 Renz Dr, Spokane Valley, WA..
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
