Mary Ann (Howe) Sauer, born Oct. 3, 1944, to Harold and Myrtle (Calvert) Howe, passed away at Kootenai Health on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017. She was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and lived in Cataldo most of her life. Mary enjoyed her family, being outside working in her garden, but most of all spending time with her many pets.
Mary worked for the Forest Service for many years and later was co-owner/operator of Ron Sauer Trucking and K Street Fast Lube in Smelterville.
Mary loved all of her family. She is survived by her brother, Ed (Claudia) Howe; son Dwight (Barb) Avery; daughters Colleen (Don) Ames and Susie (Mike) McAllister; her grandchildren, Krista (Jeremy) Brandt, Ariana Wingfield, Mike (Sarah) Lamphere, Jesse Ames, Kyle McAllister, Amanda (Nick) Avery and Robyn Ames; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several step-children — Jonni Wingfield, Beverly Young, Tony Sauer, Veronica Wuolle and Dusty Sauer; several step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son Billy Lamphere; sister Betty Howe; stepdaughter Paula Williams; stepson Brett Sauer; husband Paul Wingfield and husband Ron Sauer.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at the Silver Valley Worship Center.
