Maureen Diane Bissell

Maureen Diane Bissell was born December 17, 1944 to Donald and Vera Bailey in Helena Montana. The family moved to Spokane WA and Maureen graduated from Mead High School in 1963 where she majored in Art, sang in the choir and was on the drill team. She went on to pursue a commercial Art Degree at Spokane Community College until she married the love of her life John Bissell on August 7th 1965 in Spokane, WA.

Maureen and John had 3 children together Brian, Shannon and Carrie. Maureen was blessed to be a stay at home mother, but did briefly tap into her art talents and worked as a contract commercial artist for local publication here in Coeur d’Alene in the 80s. Maureen also ran an in home daycare during that time where she cared for children in her home, including her grandchildren. Maureen loved her grandchildren very much and enjoyed every moment with them.

Maureen had an adventurous spirit! She enjoyed the outdoors, and spent many years skiing and camping with her family. Tent camping with Maureen provided every comfort of home, she brought everything, including the kitchen sink. In the summer packing food for huckleberry picking or wood cutting was a full buffet in the woods. Maureen and John enjoyed travel to the new England area as empty nesters, staying in bed and breakfast homes and shopping for antiques. Maureen loved a good craft fair, which she enjoyed attending with her daughters anytime of year. In her later years, her health began to fail leading to her spending the last 2 years at Ivy Court.

Maureen was admitted to the Hospice House on January 1st 2025 and passed away in the early morning hours of January 2nd, 2025. Maureen is survived by her husband John, son Brian and daughters Shannon and Carrie. Maureen is also survived by her 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
