Milo Barker

Milo Edward Barker (79 years old) of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2016. He was born on Jan. 14, 1937, in Deerfield, S.D., to parents Guy and Grace Barker.

Milo was educated through the Coeur d’Alene School District before enlisting in the United States Air Force. After an honorable discharge in 1957, Milo went to work at Sande’s Chevron, then Y-J Foods before joining the Labor Union No. 238. He retired and has been a member for 39 years.

Milo enjoyed reading, watching his favorite sports teams (Seattle Mariners, Gonzaga Bulldogs and the Green Bay Packers), playing golf, and having coffee with his friends on Fridays at the Ironhorse.

Milo loved kids. He was his grandchildrens’ No. 1 fan, attending all their sporting events, Grandparents’ Day and graduations. He was a volunteer “grandpa” for 10 years at his daughter’s school, listening to kids read, and even dressing up as Santa Claus for years. Before Milo was diagnosed with cancer, he was a regular blood and platelet donor.

Milo also enjoyed traveling with his wife where they took road trips and longer vacations to Mexico, Hawaii and the Oregon Coast. He was a member of the Masons, Coeur d’Alene Shriners, the Scottish Rites and the Hayden Eagles.

Milo was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Grace Barker; brother Junior Barker; sisters Maxine Sande and Shirley Chestnutt; and brothers-in-law Stan Jamison and W.O. Sande.

Milo is survived by his wife, Nadine of 55 years at home; his sons, Jeff (Lori) and Mitch (Jamie) Barker; and his only daughter, Julie (Tim) Kinzer. His beloved grandchildren; grandsons Brian Boucher, Jeff Jr. (JJ and Jennifer) Barker, Dr. Robert (Robbie and Kimberly) Barker and Stephen Kinzer; granddaughters Brigitte Boucher, Makayla and Jayden Barker, and Karlie and Kinzie Meyer; and his long awaited great-grandson, 2 month old Jeff III (Trey) Barker.

Milo is also survived by his sister, Arlene Jamison; brothers-in-law Vern (Reta) Gerths and Mark Chestnutt; his sister-in-law, Ella Mae (Vern) Walters; and several nieces and nephews.
