Norman Disrud

Norm entered into the presence of Jesus Christ, his savior, on June 9, 2016, and joined loved ones who had gone before.

He was born in Fosston, Minn., and worked on the family farm with draft horses before joining the Air Force during the Korean War. After his service, he moved west to North Idaho, where he met his future wife, Marilyn. He was then employed as an engineer for the Idaho Trans-portation Department, a position he held until retirement.

He adored his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with them. They are fortunate to have had a grandfather like him, and will treasure the memories always.

He also had a lifelong passion for cars and mechanical things. His antique gasoline engine collection was a great source of pride and enjoyment, as was the restoration of a muscle car for the family.

Words fail when trying to describe the character of Norm. His devotion to his wife during a protracted illness and immobility was awe inspiring. He was a man of his word, and was the sort of person you could trust with anything. His duty to God and family came before all. He was a hero.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Selmer and Olga Disrud; and his wife, Marilyn. He is survived by son Todd; daughter-in-law Rhonda; and grandchildren Nathaniel and Sarah. We will miss him dearly, but are comforted by the assurance of a joyous reunion one day. There will only be a private, family gathering.
