Pamela Howerton

Pamela (Pam) Hewitt Jones Howerton, 73, of Rathdrum, Idaho, passed away on June 14, 2016, surrounded by all of her children and many of her grandchildren.

Pam was born in San Francisco, Calif., on May 18, 1943. She received an associate's degree in nursing from North Idaho College while raising five children.

During Pam’s early adult years, she enjoyed raising animals on the family farm, instilling work ethic and ownership in her children. After graduating college, she worked as a registered nurse at Kootenai Memorial Hospital for many years where she showed a seemingly endless capacity to care for and nurture her patients. In her later years she was actively involved at the Cherished Ones Ministries soup kitchen, where her macaroni and cheese became a favorite among patrons.

Pam is survived by her brother Kevin, children Stephen, Michael, Christie, Patrick, Timothy, Jennifer, a sea of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and of course her cherished Chihuahua, Amico.

Pam is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Milne Jones.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Cherished Ones Ministries soup kitchen, P.O. Box 985, Rathdrum, ID 83858.

The family of Pamela Hewitt Jones Howerton wishes to thank the caring staff of Hospice House at Hummingbird Field and everyone who has reached out to express condolences, share a story and celebrate Pam’s life. She always put her family and friends' happiness and well-being ahead of her own and loved her family unconditionally.
