Paul Foeller

Paul Francis Foeller passed away July 3, 2016, at his home in Post Falls, Idaho, 92 years from the day he was born to Joseph Nicholas and Marie Babette (Goerger) Foeller in 1924 in Green Bay, Wis. He was the youngest and last surviving of their 10 children.

Shortly after graduating high school, he joined the Army Air Corps on Nov. 4, 1942. Unable to serve as a pilot due to his color blindness, he instead worked as a crew chief on the P-51D Mustang in the 2nd Air Commando Group, 327th Air Drome Squadron. Following his service he attended George Washington University in D.C. When he returned home in 1951, he met Mary Jane (Stevens) and they were married on Sept. 13, 1952. He spent the majority of his career in both the printing and insurance businesses, retiring as a Farmers Insurance Agent in Post Falls in 1992.

His favorite leisure activity or as he referred to it “a different kind of stress” was golf with his favorite foursome: himself, Kevin Vogel, Karl South and John Ott.

He leaves his loving bride of 64 years — Mary Jane; nine children — Barb (Pat) McDonald of Post Falls, Sr. Mary Michaela of Spring Hill, Paul G. Foeller of Post Falls, Joe (Michelle) Foeller of Post Falls, Michele (Len) Daniel of Chatteroy, Patty (Mike) Robb of Spokane Valley, Mary Beth (Brett) Schexnider of Stuttgart, Germany, Tim (Carol) Foeller of Spokane Valley, and Pete Foeller of Oakland; 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was the oldest and longest standing Packer fan, having known Curly Lambeau when he was just a Packer — before they were known as the Green Bay Packers.
