Philip J. Membury went to be with his Lord on Dec. 15, 2018, in Hayden, Idaho, at the age of 92. He was born in New York, N.Y., on Oct. 15, 1926. Philip joined the Army and served in WWII. He graduated from Pratt Institute and started his life as a computer genius. Philip met the love of his life, Edna R. Gehle, married and had four children, Candace A. DeFrancesco of Tampa Fla., Gayle M. Blanchard of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Philip J. Membury II of Fallbrook, Calif., and Patricia L. Dodd of Glendale, Ariz.
He traveled the world and his work took him and his family many wonderful places including living in Belgium. Philip liked to voice his opinion (you may remember his comments in the Cd’A Press). He had a wicked sense of humor and loved the perfect dry martini, camping with family and friends, telling stories and he had a beautiful singing voice. He will be missed greatly by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by all four children, eight grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and sister Letitia M. Gormley. He is preceded in death by his wife, Edna and siblings, Graham W. Membury, John J. Gormley, S. Harry Gormley and Phyllis A. Villa.
A viewing for Philip will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, with Rosary at 5 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at St. Thomas Church.
