Richard L. Hazelton, 88, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away November 1, 2023, with his family by his side at Hospice of North Idaho.
He was born on November 24, 1934, to Leon and Emma Hazelton in Gibbs, Idaho. He married the love of his life Gwen Russell on August 6, 1954, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene. Together they had four sons, Ronald, Russell, Robert, and Richard.
Rich and Gwen loved to travel to the Oregon Coast, Reno, and Northern California. They loved spending time with family.
He retired from Idaho Veneer of Post Falls after 31 years in 1994 to care for his wife Gwen.
He liked classic cars, especially Studebakers, and enjoyed Car d lane every year. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Dallas Cowboys, St. Louis Cardinals, and Gonzaga basketball.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Emma Hazelton, wife Gwen, and son Ronald.
He is survived by his sons Russell (Joanne) of Coeur d’ Alene, Robert (Dee) of Kalispell, Montana, and Richard (Tami) of Rathdrum; brother and sister-in-law Rod and Connie Hazelton of Hayden: sister-in-law Penny Russell of Coeur d’ Alene, and sister-in-law Judy Krum of Post Falls. Twelve grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to all the staff and residents of Bestland for all the love and care they gave him. Also, special thank you to all the wonderful staff at North Idaho Hospice.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday November 9, 2023, at the English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. 4th St., Coeur d'Alene, ID with a reception to follow.
