Robert Clemons

Robert (Bob) E. Clemons, 77 passed away July 30, 2017 in Coeur d’Alene with his wife of 59 years and his daughter Cindy by his side. During his last few days he was constantly surrounded by family and close friends.

Bob was born on September 10, 1939 to Lester L. Clemons and Juanita Bordeaux-Clemons in Little Rock, Arkansas. Bob enjoyed his early years in Arkansas playing on the Mississippi River, picking cotton and of course, fishing. The family picked fruit for a short time during hard times and Bob would get up in the trees and sing. People would give him coins for singing after hearing such a beautiful voice.

Bob's family moved to Redondo Beach, California when he was about 12. He later met and married the love of his life in 1958 and they made their home in Hawthorne, California. They moved to Turlock and eventually settled in Stockton, California where he was a business partner in Stockton Shower Door & Mirror Company.

During his young married years he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, water skiing and dirt bike enduros. Bob also enjoyed training bird dogs & almost always had one by his side. He loved life, laughed often and regularly gathered family & friends to enjoy the outdoors with him. In 1978 he moved his family to Coeur d’Alene where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and the beauty of the four seasons found in the Northwest. He worked as a skilled Commercial Glazier for Modern Glass in CDA from 1978, until his retirement in 2002.

Bob was a devoted Christian and lived a life committed to integrity. He was an Elder, Sunday School teacher and became a licensed and ordained lay minister in the early 90’s. Bob's passion was to see spiritual leaders become more Christ-like. He loved singing and blessing others with his voice. While residing in California he traveled with his gospel quartet called The Neighbormen for a number of years. His years in Idaho were spent singing in holiday productions, weddings and funerals. He became well-known for his beautiful voice.

Bob is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Cindy Clemons of Post Falls, son Michael (Terry) Clemons of Hayden and son Steven Clemons of Coeur d’Alene. Sisters Mary (Jerry) Logan of Monticello, Arkansas, Ruth (Dale) LaCelle and brother Homer (Ruth) Clemons of Manteca, California. Sister-in-law Rebecca (Hisham) Zahran of Amman, Jordan.

Following in Bob’s footprints are many nieces, nephews and his nine grandchildren: Angela (Joel), Kirk (Kimberly), Adrian, Stephen (Mellisa), Caleb, Jessica (Kevin), Janey, Kasey and Levi – along with 15 great-grandchildren.

His contagious laughter, awesome singing, and funny one-liners will be so missed, but never forgotten. Right now he's probably saying "this is more fun than killin' snakes!"

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 9th at Northstar Baptist Church. 8145 Ramsey Rd. Hayden, Idaho.

Because of Bob's love of ice cream, there will be an ice cream social following the memorial service.
