Robert Singleton
Robert William Singleton (Bob), 81, born May 31, 1935, in Aladdin, WY, died March 8, 2017. Son of Jesse and Pauline Singleton, and loving husband to Margaret of 55 years.
He is survived by his wife Margaret, children Marc (Donna), Kelly (Scott) and Kimberly (Sam), five grandchildren Jordan, Zachary (Sandra), Kyle, Karlene, Taylor, Michael (Loren), Cara (Doug) and Jon and four great grandchildren Peter, Charlie, Hayden and Cielle.
Bob worked in public education as a teacher, principal and superintendent for over 50 years in South Dakota, Montana and Idaho. Because of his passion for children, he was a fierce advocate throughout his career for improving school programs and curriculum, writing and receiving educational grants, and championed the planning for numerous building projects that has left a lasting impression in each community he served. He was also a leader in the many communities and churches where he lived and made numerous contributions to the charitable organizations he supported.
Bob retired in 2003, and devoted his time to his passions of family, music, gardening and golfing. He was a member of the Spokane Melody Singers and enjoyed spreading God’s love through music. The bounty of his gardens were enjoyed by his family, friends and neighbors.
Bob, Dad and Grandpa will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Services will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Coeur d’Alene, ID. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Spokane Melody Singers or the Music Program of the Community United Methodist Church.
