Roberta ‘Birdy’ Covell (Hoskins) Olney
Roberta “Birdy” was born April 8, 1945, in Boise, Idaho to mother, Mary (Wallace) and father, Lyle D. Hoskins.
Throughout her life, Birdy traveled to many states; she received her high school diploma from West Des Moines High School. She worked as a beautician and later went to school in California to become a CNA. She lived in San Jose, Calif.; Jackson Hole, Wyo.; Blackfoot, Idaho; and finally settled down in Hayden, Idaho.
Birdy truly loved everything to do with horses. As a young girl, she did barrel racing and was part of the Bingham Boots and Bows woman’s riding group. Birdy also enjoyed camping, square dancing and making beautiful and meaningful cards for others using paints and stamps. Birdy will truly be missed by all those who knew her.
Birdy is preceded in death by both of her parents; her first husband, Ray Olney; her second husband, Charlie Covell; her son, Lyle D. Olney; and brother, Lyle D. Hoskins. She is survived by her children, Jerald (John Dillon) of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Beverly Ann (David) Leffler of Blackfoot, Idaho; grandchildren, Brandie Jo Key of Coeur d’Alene and Jacequelin (Shawn) Waters of Blackfoot; great-grandchildren, Cash and Josie Waters; sisters, Sharon Stewart of Hayden, Rita Samford of San Jose, and Tiny (Homer) Berger of Rapid City, S.D., and brother, Wally (Carol) Hoskins of Afton, Wyo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
