Rock Stewart
(October 13, 1934 – February 22, 2018)

Rock was born in Lapwai, Idaho on October 13th, 1934 to Guy and Lillie Stewart. He grew up with his family and attended school in Lewiston, Idaho. After 3 years in the army, he married Gloria (Schubert) in 1957. In 1958, he reentered the service, this time in the Air Force. He was first stationed in Portland, Oregon, where his first two sons, Rocky Michael and Robert were born. He was then transferred to Eugene where his third son, Ron, was born. He was then stationed in Denver, followed by a transfer to Vandenberg Air Force Base in California where his daughter Debbie was born.

In 1966, he was transferred back to the Denver area as an instructor and joined an Evangelical Free Church. He became the pastor at a Longmont church, and in 1968, he left the Air Force to become a full time pastor. In 1971, Rock and his family moved to Scappoose, Oregon, where he was the pastor at a Community Congregational Church. He served there until 1984 when all four children had graduated from high school. During that time, he also graduated from college and was active with the Air Force Reserve.

From Scappoose, Rock and Gloria moved to Tempe, Arizona where they headed up Partners in Christ International, a missionary organization that built a Children’s Home in Mexico and arranged for numerous mission trips to countries behind the Iron Curtain and around the world.

In 1993, Rock became the District Superintendent of the Northern Mountain District of the Evangelical Free Church, and moved to Post Falls. After seven years, he joined the pastoral staff at His Place Church where he served as the Executive Pastor. He then was called to pastor at Otis Orchards Community Church in Washington, where he served until his passing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Lillie Stewart, his brother Junior, his sisters Deanna and Lucille, and his son Rocky Michael. He is survived by his wife Gloria and his children Robert (Stella), Ron (Gayle), and Debbie (John). He has 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
